Description

Providing six seats as standard and an optional seventh, the aircraft appeared to private owners needing a comfortable long-range aircraft and corporate or charter organizations shifting people over short legs. With the same fuselage as the 421, the 414 was roomy with huge baggage space. Coupled with smaller engines than the 421, you had an economical transport that could carry a couple of passengers and baggage over 1000 miles or six executives to a day meeting two hours away. The aircraft has a remarkably high service ceiling of 30,800 ft (9387 m), but the normal operating range of a 414A is between 15,000 ft (4572 m) and FL250 (7,620 m). The fuel economy of the 414A depends on the altitude, conditions, and power setting, but the general specific fuel consumption is approximately 0.44 lbs/hp/hr. With the first flight in 1968 and production in 1970, Cessna manufactured the 414 for 17 years, with almost 1100 shipped. While arguments rage today over whether the 414 or the 421 is the better aircraft, there’s no doubt that with the 414, Cessna produced a comfortable, roomy, and stylish aircraft for personal and corporate travel. 1979 Cessna 414A Chancellor Specifications Engines

The immediate ancestor to the C414, the C412, was launched in the late ’60s. It did away with the tube as the series transitioned to a FET-based (Field Effect Transistor) design and moved the pad and polar-pattern controls to the body of the microphone for easier access. This microphone only featured three polar patterns (omni, cardioid, and figure-8), which many engineers felt to be insufficient. The Cessna 414 is an American light, pressurized, twin-engine transport aircraft built by Cessna. It first flew in 1968 and an improved variant was introduced from 1978 as the 414A Chancellor.

In the mid ’80s, AKG brought out the C414B-ULS (Ultra Linear Series), which featured an electronics redesign that lowered the noise floor. Later that decade, the transformer was removed from the C414 and replaced with an electronic balancing circuit, giving the microphone a slightly higher SPL handling capability. This short-lived version was labeled the C414-TL. Looking to the Past These polar patterns are developed by varying the output level from the omnidirectional mic as well as combining it with different output levels from the Figure-8 pattern. You can also use the same switch to choose 4 hybrid patterns from each of these. Right under the switch, there is an LED light that allows you to see which patterns have you selected. As a versatile and high-quality multi–pattern mic, the C314 has a lot going for it. The build quality is excellent, it is supplied with a useful set of accessories, it has a high maximum SPL capability, and an impressively low–noise output. It also sounds very good overall, albeit with a sound character that leans towards warm and bright rather than stoically neutral. Photo: Mike CameronIn fact there are two new C414s, the C414B XLS and the C414 XLII, though the only performance difference between the two models is that the XLII has a more pronounced presence peak than the XLS. A slight additional lift above 3kHz gives this model a slightly more airy and open top end that is useful when miking vocals to capture a contemporary 'crisp' sound, or when miking instruments at a distance where the high lift helps compensate for the natural HF loss that occurs at a distance. Visually, the XLS model has a silver grille matched by silver engraved legending, while the XLII has a gold mesh and legend. As the mics are so similar, I'll simply refer to them as the C414 until the time comes to describe their tonal differences. The easiest way to examine the range is to look from the top down. The C414 XLII and XLS variants are the flagship mics in the range and feature the distinctive 414 shape, grille, and switch positions. The latest version of the mic was split into two models, the XL S and XLII which are easily identified by the colour of their grille as the latter XLII featur es a Gold grille .

Moving finally to the fig–8 mode, the polar pattern is very good indeed, with nice deep side nulls across the entire bandwidth, albeit softening slightly above 15kHz. The frequency response takes on a more pronounced character, though, with an obvious upper–mid bloom and that universal HF presence lift. The combined effect gives quite a dry, ‘skinny’ bass with a slightly recessed upper mid-range. In UseThe standard aviation insurance all aircraft owners take is liability coverage, while hull coverage is optional. The greater the experience of the owner/pilot, the lower the premiums. The pressurization and turbocharged nature of the aircraft mean it is complicated to work on, and specialization is needed. So before buying one, you should ensure that there is an AMT with experience on pressurized Cessna twins in your area. Cessna Chancellor (414A) Similar Aircraft h2>

Overall, the 414A is a capable aircraft. It can carry up to 8 passengers and baggage, or full fuel, but not both. Full fuel allows the Chancellor 414A to fly for roughly four and a half hours, IFR reserves included, and has enough load leftover to carry six standard passengers, and not a pound more. On the flip side, when fully loaded with eight passengers and baggage, there will be enough space for barely two hours of fuel. The Cessna 414 is a high-performance aircraft requiring regular and comprehensive maintenance, and if looked after and regularly updated, the aircraft will hold its own on resale. AKG, Hi. Is there anything wrong with using this mic for recording classical piano? I ask because it says here that it may be used for piano/strings, but in the owner's manual the XLII is not recommended for this, but only the XLS. Sincerely, ColinThough the C3000 is also a large diaphragm capacitor mic, its capsule design is quite different. Here the main diaphragm is very similar to that used in the C414, but behind it is a small‑diaphragm capsule, the output of which is combined with the main capsule to produce either a cardioid or hypercardioid response. There's no figure‑of‑eight and no omni option on this mic. The capsule response is selected by means of a recessed switch on the side of the microphone body, and further switches are fitted for switching in the ‑10dB pad and the LF roll‑off filter, which comes in at around 500Hz and falls away gently. Retrieved October 7, 2021, from http://blog.overhaulbids.com/continental-overhaul-cost/continental-520-overhaul-cost/ The C414 has been a studio staple for over 50 years because it is an exceptional microphone. While some of the variations may be slightly better suited to one application or another, they are all wonderful microphones that can help bring out the subtlety and character of your music. Eight aircraft factors influence 414 resale plus many other economic factors. The aircraft factors are:
