For the casual reader it is much too long and detailed and I think, that no matter what category of reader you are it is painfully repetitive. I completed it only because I have a particular interest in compassion and am doing research on this topic at the moment. I did not really find it very useful as an academic book even though it has lots of references and I know from reading other writers on this topic that it is very well researched and accurate, to the best of my knowledge.

It's worth a read if you want encouraging to be more reflective with a compassionate mindset, but you'd get the picture if you simply read Part One.
