Achieving beautiful bokeh in out-of-focus areas as well as excellent in-focus reproduction to create a natural sense of depth according to the aperture setting and the subject.

To this day, my lens still works perfectly with absolutely no issues at all, so to me, it’s definitely a well-built lens. Last but not least, the old AF motors of the XF 35mm are audible but not as noisy as some reviewers have claimed. So, while both lenses are built well, there are some key differences to particular features of these lenses that differentiate them.

In terms of focal length, they are all very close, but of course in true full-frame equivalency, the 35s are 53mm, and the 33 is EXACTLY the 50mm. However, you do need to be willing to give up that extra low light performance that comes with the wider F/1.

It is equally good for portraits, landscapes, travel, street photography, or even product photography. There is a whole group of prime lenses in the 60mm to 65mm lens body diameter range -- starting at 14mm.Once you get to know it though, once you agree to be patient and accept its quirks, it can provide you with some absolutely amazing images. Very minor CA as with most prime lenses, but there is some longitudinal CA in the out of focus foreground and background. I’m going to tell you about the pros and cons, show you a bunch of examples shot on each lens, and also which one I’d keep if I could only keep one. So, when you see or read a review, you have to remember that the resulting image is due to the photographer's eye and not the lens.

Each shot was quickly captured in a type of run-and-shoot scenario where if something caught my eye, it was photographed. Take some time, have a look around and you’ll soon get a feel for which images are taken with this beautiful lens.If I was working in nasty, dirty areas, I'd forget the cap, and use an uncoated 52mm Tiffen UV filter instead. I also know there are a lot more 50mm equivalent choices out there these days for the Fujifilm system as well. This isn’t something that affects day to day use, but is worth noting that it does seem to be normal behaviour. Ergonomics wise, the lens feels great in the hand and even balances well on Fuji’s compact camera bodies.
