Since the moment Farley came into Meyer and Hazels life she has been the constant they both longed for. Farley (h) is a standup comedian who’s starting to get more recognition and Meyer (H) is her best friend and manager.

This was a story I had initially saved for a rainy day—a story I waited on, and then when I dove in—I had no words. So I was so proud of him when he realizes what he wants career and relationship-wise and decides to go for it. I was told by a friend that the main character of this book felt a lot like him, that he was who the author would fan-cast for Meyer.At first I was a little worried I might not enjoy this book solely bc it’s about a female comedian who loves potty humor, which I reeeeaally just don’t like lol, but honestly it was pretty easy to still stay super invested in their story even if some of her jokes weren’t my typical brand of humor! When she felt like she devoured every romcom available in 2020, she indulged herself in writing bits and pieces of her own. With twelve med school rejection letters burning a hole in my back pocket, I'm back in my quirky hometown for the summer. My favorite comedienne, one of the most famous in the country—who has written for wildly successful shows and has hosted Saturday Night Live—is here and she is smiling in my direction. Between his seductive smirk and charming good looks, it’s no wonder I can’t help the way he makes me feel whenever I’m near him.

I wish the climax and mini-conflict wasn’t quite what happened but there’s no third act breakup at least. Please don’t get me wrong it is very entertaining (the swimsuit legit made me cackle 🤣), the jokes are present but more background and not overtly in your face. I felt like I was reading a true story, not one that was puffed up and flowery and romantic for the sake of it.

The love is so respectful and kind and there's always a safe place to fall, and I love that more than I can say.
