As expected, the performance is top-notch across the board thanks to the Exynos 2200 chipset and 8GB of RAM. It's no better than Apple's A15 Bionic, but it keeps things more than buttery-smooth and snappy in all tasks and apps you could think of. The graphics performance here alone makes the S22 Ultra also a fantastic gaming phone - it handles games with no hiccups. The 5,000mAh battery here offers a day of usage on a full charge with fast charging as well as wireless charging support, but nothing more than that. We wish it lasted for more than that but a full day is still okay. We also noticed that there are some heat-related issues when performing demanding tasks, so beware of that as well. S22 Ultra: Price UK The Galaxy S22 Plus went on sale February 25 in the US, March 3 in Australia and March 11 in the UK.

Either way, that’s a supremely expensive smartphone - but then again, Samsung’s S-series devices aren’t designed for people on a budget. Where Apple now favors a smooth flat metal band around its phones, the Galaxy S22's aluminum frame offers a small, albeit pleasing curve, which some may find slightly more comfortable to hold for long periods than the iPhone 14. The phone is IP68 rated, which makes it water and dust-resistant. In practice, a drop in the sink is no big deal. And in many other areas, this is a powerful phone, with a top-end chipset, decent battery life and great main camera. If there’s something that does make us narrow our eyes in doubt, it’s the charging speed. Samsung claims that the phone charges at 45W, a figure that’s hard for average users to test given that the phone doesn’t come with an in-box charger. But when we used an 80W charger on the phone, it still took over two hours to power from empty to full. When it comes to the videos, 4K-60 FPS recording is here in addition to the fantastically sharp and cinematic 8K-24 FPS mode. The auto-framing feature isn't all that well refined, but the ability to pause the recording to continue recording a bit later is a great feature. Performance and Battery Life

That’s not 45W charging, and we’re not the only reviewers who’ve found issues with Samsung’s claims of 45W charging. It seems that the powering speed is closer to 20W, which really isn’t good for a phone that costs this much.

Up to 32 people can be connected at once. Video quality may vary depending on the number of participants, network conditions, country and carrier. While the cameras of the Galaxy S22 are slightly better overall, there are some interesting things to note here as not the entire module is an upgrade over the previous model and there are some unexpected downgrades with some sensors. The overall sensor design is superior in the S22, which is always great to see - the main lens goes from 12 MP to 50 MP too. But then the telephoto lens goes from 64 MP to 10 MP for some unknown reason. At least the optical zoom is now bumped up to 1.3x here from 1.1x. We know that megapixels aren't everything, but it's still a huge drop in photo resolution. Still, the overall photo quality is very satisfying. For their enthusiasts, the Single Take and Dual View modes are still here too. For our full review, we used the Exynos-powered phone, and it ran well. When we put the device through a multi-core benchmark test using Geekbench 5, it returned a score of 3,431. That’s a very high score, and one of the highest we’ve seen from a Samsung phone too, but a few 2021 devices beat it, including the Xiaomi Mi 11, Realme GT, OnePlus 9, and ZTE Axon 30 Ultra. Those devices all use the Snapdragon 888, the predecessor to the 8 Gen 1, which points towards the Exynos chip being a tiny bit weaker. Samsung has equipped all members of its S22 line with one of its latest mobile chipsets. In the US, that’s the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while outside the US and Asia the Galaxy S22 runs on Samsung’s own Exynos 2200. Both processors are paired with 8GB of RAM, and either 128GB or 256GB storage. Cameras: No More Contour Cut

With a resolution of 1080 x 2340 (or FHD+), the S22 Plus has the same resolution as most other Android phones save for super-cheap or super-pricey phones, and thanks to its cost, we would have thought the Plus falls into that latter category. The Ultra has a screen with a 1440 x 3088 resolution, and we would have liked to see something similar here.

That camera combination is somewhat of a remix of the S21’s sensors, with only the ultra-wide and front-facers the same, and the most notable difference is the jump from a 12MP to 50MP main camera. The display can achieve peak brightness of up to 1750 nits on Galaxy S22+ and 1300 nits on Galaxy S22 improving the contrast between dark and light aspects of digital content for a more brilliant picture quality, with a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio on Galaxy S22+ and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio on Galaxy S22 to make your mobile experience more immersive. The camera app includes a rather deep set of shooting modes and controls, many of them hidden under ‘More’ (typical of an Android phone). There's Pro mode, for instance, which gives you control over shutter speed, ISO (film speed in old-school camera-speak), focus point, and white balance. If you are someone who prefers Android, has a lavish budget and prefers large displays over compact form factors, then the S22 Ultra is certainly a no-brainer among the 2022 models. Featuring an almost undeniably beautiful design, the S22 Ultra comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, running at 3088 x 1440 pixel resolution and resulting in a 500 per-pixel-inch clarity. With a dynamic refresh rate that goes from 1Hz all the way up to 120Hz, it offers fantastic functionality and vivid colours with everything you may possibly do on the phone. With the peak brightness of 1750 nits and Samsung's Vision Booster technology, the display performs great even under direct sunlight and stays comfortably bright whenever you may need it. Moreover, there is an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner placed on the bottom half of it and said to be quite secure. Cameras: No More Contour Cut We also have to commend Samsung for being one of the few phone companies putting out vibrantly colored phones - we tested a pink S22 Plus, and other options include green, blue and violet. How many companies are putting out pink phones these days?
