There are many yaoi and BL anime series that contain questionable and disturbing themes; however, Papa to Kiss in the Dark is definitely a gem among them. The anime explores the relationship (mostly sexual) between a father and son and what happens when the son finds out that he is actually adopted. What makes Papa to Kiss in the Dark a great candidate for taboo material is the portrayal of an adult man who takes it upon himself to raise and look after a small child but turns him into his lover instead.

The stunning Kay Parker is unforgettable as the frustrated and finally incestuous mother Barbara Scott, bringing an integrity to her role that is rare in this genre. Thoroughly sensual, but never remotely sleazy, she became on the strength of this portrayal the most renowned British born porn actress, except ironically in her native country where censorship prevented it from being widely shown. Nicole Kidman is Anna, a Manhattan widow who slowly comes to believe the claims of a ten-year-old boy named Sean, who repeatedly tells her that he is the reincarnation of her late husband, also named Sean, who died suddenly ten years hence. This Hungarian gem is a criminally underrated drama that explores a poignant incestuous relationship between an estranged brother and sister. The film possesses a dark tone that reflects the unusual relationship between its characters, but it doesn’t tend to exploit the provocative nature of the story. There’s a sense of lurking danger felt throughout the movie, but the way it portrays its characters and their relationship make us empathize with them rather than trying to put us off with blatant emotional manipulation. This circa-1960s video from the UK draws on some pretty questionable "science" to make its point: which is that "sexual intercourse outside of marriage" is "irresponsible, and possibly disastrous." The narrator goes on to say "we're not trying to influence anyone. Facts are our business just now." Astonishing effects, stunning costumes, overpowering visuals, Henri Alekan’s exemplary lensing, dreamy editing techniques, all pulsing and vibrating to its own fevered, weird, and electrical cadence, it’s a frequently nightmarish and ghoulish tear-jerker. And the chemistry between the two leads is beyond question. La Belle et la Bête is one for the ages.I interview so many young teenagers, and so many boys have no idea what sex is. They don't have a clue. Girls don't know," she tells George. TABOO is considered a classic in the adult genre and it's easy to see why. It's certainly a very well-made movie and I'd argue that it also has some good performances (one great one). With that said, I'm not too sure I'd call it a flat out masterpiece or one of the greatest of its kind. I can't help but think the film would have been better had it been made a few years earlier when films like this could have more "story" and actually have something to say. Todd Haynes’‘Carol’ is quite simply one of the most beautiful films about what it feels like to fall in love. These are two people dying to fall in each other’s arms, yearning for a sense of emotional liberation from the clutches of a cold society. Therese is a shy young girl who isn’t happy with her boyfriend. Carol is a wealthy, middle-aged mother on the verge of a divorce. These are two people in different phases of life, from different strata of society, but the world around them is cold and indifferent to their feelings and desires, and that is when they meet. With an amazing cast and a nuanced script, Haynes crafts a timeless story of love so full of warmth and humanity. Another loli anime, but even more notorious than Mitsudomoe. The main characters are once again three underage girls who try their best to seduce, embarrass, and twist their new virginal teacher around their little fingers. The idea of three girls who are still basically children lobbing dirty jokes at their teacher and him actually responding and blushing at their advances is the reason why this anime found its way to this list. Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru (I'm in Love With My Little Sister) MAL Rated 6.59, Ranked #4879 | Aired Spring 2005 | Produced by Vega Entertainment

Sexual repression and passionate sympathetic connection lay at the heart of Kimberly Peirce’s award-winning film of real-life trans male Brandon Teena (Hilary Swank, brilliant in an Oscar-winning role). year-old Laurent Chevalier, played brilliantly by Benoît Ferreux, is in many ways an avatar for Malle –– both suffered from heart murmurs and both opposed the First Indochina War, for starters –– and is often compared favorably to François Truffaut’s likewise autobiographical film, The 400 Blows. On DVD, Kay admitted in an interview that she was attracted to her co-star Mike Ranger in real life who played her son. This is not an exaggeration that will be explained shortly. Shot in a scant fifteen days, Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Ali: Fear Eats the Soul is a timeless classic, and a love story of great unshakeable power. Deceptively simple, spare and yet artful, Fassbinder’s film is technically flawless, and 42 years on, has proven to undoubtedly be a cinematic monument.Later Stephen goes to her flat, where they have s*x. Stephen's obsession with Anna deepens, and he wants to be with her permanently, even if it destroys his family. Taboo rapper movies and TV shows Deservedly regarded as one of the best movies of Porn's 'Golden Age', TABOO excels in every department. Boys Don’t Cry’ is a harrowing look at repressed sexuality and gender identity. The film is based on the real-life story of Brandon Teena, an American trans man who was brutally raped and killed in Nebraska. Brandon, played by Hillary Swank, adopts a male identity and moves to Nebraska, where he falls in love with Lana. They remain lovers despite Lana discovering Brandon’s true identity. Their romance is painful and uncertain as violence consumes their blissful but brief and fleeting span of time. If your idea of powerful cinema happens to be one that has the power to devastate and disturb you emotionally, then this is your kind of film. Aki Sora differs from Koi Kaze and Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru in a sense that it is purely an ecchi anime, but that does not make it any less taboo. The OVA follows the twins Sora and Nami, and their older sister Aki. They are all full siblings, and as the story progresses you soon realize that they all lust for each other. Instead of the twins becoming lovers, it is the older sister Aki who develops a sexual obsession with her younger brother and proceeds to seduce him. Mitsudomoe (Three Way Struggle) MAL Rated 7.74, Ranked #976 | Aired Summer 2010 | Produced by Bridge

When people say European cinema, the names most often mentioned are Andrei Tarkovsky, Ingmar Bergman, Jean Luc-Godard, Luis Bunuel, Michael Haneke, and so on and so forth. But Krzysztof Kieslowski‘s name is often sadly overlooked, and in my humble opinion, he’s right up there with the aforementioned greats as one of the finest auteurs European cinema has ever produced. He had this ability to get so deeply personal and intimate that it leaves you soaked in a plethora of emotions. Not only does Romanek do Ishiguro’s book great justice, it gives the audience enough charitable comprehension, sumptuous visuals, and pretty provocations to last a lifetime. Wonderful.

While its no surprise Paul is in love with his mom no sexual frustration is about when we see him do two women at the same time and another one at home. On the DVD version for Taboo, Kay admitted there was a strong attraction for her co-star Mike Ranger and this is no exaggeration that will be explained shortly. While much of Boys Don’t Cry reads as a scathing indictment of American intolerance, as well it should, the stirring emotional heft at its core will stay with you. It is a luminous, tender film, and while it shows horror and tragedy, it also shows great mercy and generous compassion. At first glance, Super Lovers is just a cute shounen-ai anime about an innocent relationship between Ren, an adopted 8-year-old boy and Haru, his older 16-year-old step-brother. However, the provocative interaction with sexual hints between these two and the fact that they fall for each other while one of them is still basically a child makes it a great candidate for taboo material. It may be a little dated, but one of the most interesting aspects of this film (a sequel of sorts to 'Boy to Man', another educational film released three years earlier) is hearing young women talk informally about their lives. Styles may change, but people are still people.
